NO-PREP VENEER
What is a no-prep veneer?
A treatment that refines the shape and colour of the front teeth by bonding thin ceramic shells with little or no reduction of the tooth surface. At MEGAPLANT Dental Clinic Seodaemun, Dr. Yoon Chang-gi, Chief Director, personally handles every stage from diagnosis to bonding.
- A thin ceramic shellA veneer is an aesthetic treatment in which a thin ceramic shell is bonded to the surface of a front tooth.
- Better shape and toneIt improves gapped teeth, small or short teeth, and teeth with uneven colour.
- Minimal reductionA no-prep veneer keeps tooth reduction to a minimum, or proceeds without any reduction at all.
The key point is preserving as much natural enamel as possible. The more enamel that remains, the more stable the bond, and this helps reduce the likelihood of sensitivity after treatment.

You don't tear down a wall just because you don't like its color. You lay a thin tile over the wall that's already there.
No-prep veneers refine the shape and color of teeth by bonding thin ceramic with little or no reduction. The more natural enamel remains, the more stable the bond, and it can also help reduce sensitivity afterwards. Depending on alignment and condition, some teeth need a very small amount of shaping, which we will tell you after examining them.
COMPARE
How does it differ from a conventional veneer?
| Aspect | What differs with a no-prep veneer |
|---|---|
| Reduction | A conventional veneer requires the tooth surface to be trimmed by the thickness of the ceramic. The no-prep approach involves no reduction at all, or only a very thin refinement. |
| Reversibility | Because the tooth is not trimmed, the natural tooth structure remains intact. It leaves room to return to the pre-treatment state. |
| Sensitivity | Because the enamel is preserved, sensitivity during and after treatment may be comparatively less. Individual differences apply. |
| Anaesthesia | With little to no reduction, the burden of anaesthesia is reduced in many cases. Where it is required, needle-free and painless anaesthesia equipment is used. |
CHECK
Cases we consider it for
It may suit you when
- Gaps between the front teeth are a visual concern
- Teeth are small or short and the smile feels unbalanced
- Discolouration is not sufficiently improved by whitening alone
- The tooth edges are worn or slightly chipped
- You wish to refine mild misalignment without orthodontics
- You wish to preserve as much natural tooth as possible
When no-prep may not be suitable
- Teeth protrude markedly or the alignment is substantially off
- Bruxism is severe
- The gum condition is not stable
※ In such cases, orthodontics or other prosthetic options are reviewed first.
WHY MEGAPLANT
The approach at MEGAPLANT Dental Clinic Seodaemun
Rather than forcing a no-prep approach, our principle is to propose the most stable method.

01
Diagnosed by the Chief Director
Dr. Yoon Chang-gi treats no-prep veneers as a focus of his practice. At diagnosis he distinguishes and explains which cases require tooth reduction and which do not.

Tooth by tooth
We examine the thickness, position and occlusion of each tooth and propose the most stable method.

Made in-house
The clinic is equipped with CEREC Primemill, a chairside milling unit, allowing veneers to be fabricated in-house.

Adjusted together
Diagnosis, design, fabrication and bonding are connected in one place, so it is easier for the clinical team and the patient to check and adjust shape and colour together.

Treatment process
We check the condition of the teeth, gums and occlusion, and diagnose whether a no-prep approach is possible.
We plan the shape and colour of the teeth together with the facial impression and lip line, and discuss it with the patient.
Thin ceramic veneers are fabricated based on the scan data.
The veneers are placed on the actual teeth for a final check of shape and colour, then bonded.
We check the chewing sensation, refine any areas needed, and then advise on regular check-ups.
CARE
Care and maintenance
Daily habits for long-term use
- Please avoid biting hard objects or opening bottle caps with your front teeth.
- If you grind your teeth, please ask us about wearing a night guard.
- Brush and floss consistently as you would with natural teeth, and have the bond checked at regular examinations.
- Ceramic itself discolours little, but the margin areas still require care.
No-prep Veneer Consultation
After diagnosis, we explain in detail whether treatment can proceed without trimming the teeth and which method would be more stable.

Frequently Asked Questions
