AESTHETIC RESIN

Aesthetic Resin

AESTHETIC RESIN

What is aesthetic resin?

A treatment in which tooth-coloured resin material is built up directly to fill gaps, chipped edges and small areas of decay in a natural-looking way. In most cases it is completed in a single visit.

  1. Hardens under lightResin is a tooth-coloured material that hardens when light is applied.
  2. Layered and sculptedThe material is divided into several shades, built up in layers, sculpted to follow the tooth's original form, and polished smooth.
  3. Finished in the treatment roomIt is completed directly in the treatment room without a separate fabrication process, and the amount of tooth reduction tends to be small.

Unlike veneers and crowns, which require an impression and laboratory fabrication, the result can be seen on the same day, and it is well suited to refining localised damage.

A consultation discussing treatment options

CHECK

Cases we consider it for

It may suit you when

  • There is a narrow gap between the front teeth
  • The edge of a tooth is slightly chipped or worn
  • You wish to treat small cavities near the front teeth inconspicuously
  • Old resin has discoloured and you wish to have it refilled
  • A tooth is slightly small or asymmetrical in shape

When another method may suit better

  • The extent of damage is wideA no-prep veneer or aesthetic prosthetics may be more suitable.
  • You wish to change the colour and shape of several teeth at onceHere too, a No-prep Veneer or Aesthetic Prosthetics is reviewed.

※ At diagnosis we compare the options appropriate to the extent involved.

COMPARE

Resin or veneer: how to choose

Veneer

  • MaterialCeramic, with high colour stability
  • TimeframeRequires a fabrication period
  • Suited toRefining several teeth at once

Aesthetic resin

  • MaterialTooth-coloured resin that hardens under light
  • TimeframeCompleted the same day, minimal reduction
  • Suited toPartial restoration

※ With aesthetic resin, staining and wear may develop over time, so periodic polishing or re-restoration may be required.

WHY MEGAPLANT

The approach at MEGAPLANT Dental Clinic Seodaemun

With resin, the result depends on the hands that build it up more than on the material itself.

01

Reading the colour layers

We observe the colour layers of the surrounding teeth and combine several shades.

Several shades combined

02

Mindful of the light

We sculpt the form with the direction of incoming light in mind.

03

How far resin can go

Before treatment, we tell you frankly how far resin can improve the situation.

04

When another option is better

Our principle is also to tell you frankly from what point a veneer or prosthesis would be the better option.

PROCESS

Treatment process

1
Diagnosis and shade selection

We check the condition of the tooth and select a shade that matches the surrounding teeth.

2
Surface preparation

The surface is prepared so the resin bonds well, and adhesive is applied. Anaesthesia is used if required.

3
Layering and sculpting

Thin layers of resin are built up and cured to form the shape of the tooth.

4
Occlusal adjustment and polishing

Any areas that catch when chewing are refined, and the surface is polished to a smooth lustre.

CARE

Care and maintenance

Points to know after treatment

  • Coffee, tea, wine and tobacco can accelerate staining of the resin, so we recommend brushing after consuming them.
  • Biting hard objects with the front teeth may cause the resin to come off or fracture.
  • Re-polishing the surface at regular check-ups helps maintain the lustre for longer.
  • If discolouration or wear progresses, partial repair or re-restoration is considered.

Aesthetic Resin Consultation

We check the site and extent involved and advise together on whether resin is sufficient or another method would be better.
