CONSCIOUS SEDATION

What is conscious sedation?

Treatment is carried out while you are in a relaxed, semi-sleep state induced with a sedative.

  1. For a strong fear of dental visitsPrepared for people with a strong fear of dental visits.
  2. Lengthy treatment in one sessionFor those who wish to complete lengthy treatment in a single session.
  3. 3-Zero Dental CareOne of the "3-Zero Dental Care" approaches of MEGAPLANT Dental Clinic Seodaemun.
You can doze off on a plane and still open your eyes when the flight attendant calls you. Conscious sedation is about that level.

You can doze off on a plane and still open your eyes when the flight attendant calls you. Conscious sedation is about that level.

It does not switch consciousness off the way general anesthesia does. You breathe on your own and can answer when we talk to you. What changes is the tension around the sounds and vibration of instruments, so people who have put off treatment out of fear find it much easier. Pain is controlled separately with local anesthesia.

ABOUT

What conscious sedation is

Conscious sedation is different from general anesthesia. Sedation is less about "putting you to sleep" and more about "keeping the experience from being frightening."

01

You breathe on your own

You continue to breathe on your own throughout.

02

You can respond

You remain able to respond to the dental team, while receiving treatment with your tension and anxiety considerably reduced.

03

Memory stays hazy

After treatment, memory of the procedure often remains hazy, which can help ease the burden of dental treatment itself.

04

Pain is controlled separately

Pain control is handled separately from sedation, through local anesthesia.

CHECK

Which treatments is it used for?

Used in these cases

  • Implant placement, particularly longer surgeries such as placing several implants at once or full-arch cases
  • Implants that also require bone grafting
  • Extraction of impacted wisdom teeth
  • Cases where several teeth must be treated in one session
  • Cases where treatment has been postponed because of a strong fear of dental sounds, smells or instruments
  • Cases where a strong gag reflex makes ordinary treatment difficult

We check first

  • General healthDepending on your general health, sedation treatment may not be suitable.
  • Preliminary interviewWe carefully review cardiac and respiratory conditions, medications you are taking, allergies and other factors.

※ We then decide whether it is possible.

ANESTHESIA

Together with needle-free and painless anesthesia

Local anesthesia is still needed even under sedation. MEGAPLANT Dental Clinic Seodaemun aims to reduce discomfort from the anesthesia stage onward.

01

Comfort-in needle-free anesthesia

Delivers anesthetic solution by pressure without a needle.

Devices

02

TENS-INJECT

TENS

The dental team selects the anesthesia method according to the treatment site and its extent. For details on our devices, please see Devices.

SAFETY

Safety management

01

Preliminary interview

We check your medical history, medications, allergies and recent condition, and consult your attending physician when necessary.

02

Monitoring during treatment

During sedation we continuously check breathing and vital signs, and adjust the depth of sedation according to your condition.

03

Recovery and going home

Once treatment is finished, we ask that you recover sufficiently and then go home accompanied by a guardian.
