Gum (Periodontal) Treatment

PERIODONTAL

What is gum treatment?

Plaque and tartar are the main causes of periodontal disease. Not missing the right time for treatment is key to protecting gum health.

  1. Non-surgical care firstWe start with scaling and root planing.
  2. Surgical care when deepWe move to periodontal surgery only when inflammation is deep.

Gum treatment proceeds step by step.

Rinsing a water bottle won't remove the film inside. You need a brush that reaches all the way in.

Gums are the same. Brushing cleans only down to the gumline, while tartar and bacteria below the gums stay put. Gum treatment follows scaling and, where needed, removes tartar and inflammation down to the root surfaces under the gums. If your gums bleed or swell, it is worth having them checked.
