Abutment

A post-shaped component that connects the artificial tooth root (fixture) to the prosthesis.

It is fastened onto the implant fixture placed in the jawbone so that a final prosthesis such as a crown can be seated on top of it. Abutments are made of materials such as titanium or zirconia, and a prefabricated or customized type is selected according to gum thickness and esthetic requirements.
