Scaling
A basic gum care procedure that removes tartar and plaque accumulated on the teeth.
Hard tartar that cannot be removed by brushing is removed with an ultrasonic scaler and similar instruments to prevent and relieve gum inflammation. Regular scaling is the most basic preventive care for stopping the progression of periodontitis, and it is usually recommended every 6 months to 1 year.
