sinus lift

Sinus Lift

A procedure that lifts the floor of the maxillary sinus in the upper molar area to secure bone space for placing an implant.

The upper molars often lack sufficient bone height because the maxillary sinus (an empty space) sits above them. The sinus membrane is carefully lifted and bone graft material is filled beneath it to create the bone volume needed for implant placement. Depending on the remaining bone height, the procedure is performed via a lateral approach or a crestal approach.
