An esthetic procedure that lightens the teeth by breaking down staining substances with a whitening agent.

Peroxide-based agents break down internal and external staining of the teeth. There is in-office whitening performed quickly at the clinic and at-home whitening done with a custom tray, and the two are sometimes combined.
